When I were a lad in WA, the Hutt River Province was a new and shiny adventure and talk of the whole state seceding was rife. Looking in hindsight, I think most of the push came from the Hankocks, Bonds and their ilk, wanting to avoid federal taxes (which is odd, as state mining royalties would surely have been more than federal taxes in those days...).

Here's hoping you have more success than Prince Leonard.

Given I was born in the 80s, I had been completely unaware of WA’s many flirtations with secession until this book came across my desk. Seems the idea just won’t die…

Western Australia is subsidized by the rest of Australia.

Andrew Leigh, a co-author with Gigi Foster in Economics, says the Goods and Services Tax is Not a Magic Pudding. Will we have no home-grown Bananas?

This idea has a lot of merit.

Its more than hightime that Ozzies Australia grew up, and was n ot interfered with by other Countries.

We have a very unique Country, placed on the World Map in a m ost strategic position, Blessed with so many natural, and in a variety of ways. I am sure that it is being considered in the next Country for..............Think about that Bananas.

Have not got time to write more, but I thank Julian GIllespie for his efforts I would have thought he was enjoying some R & R after his sterling efforts re his efforts on behalf of Human Rights and so called bugs ,,,

WA is closer to the The various "bridges" that hop skip and jump across and iup into the major land masses that make up The World. A lot of food for tho9ught there about how to protect and maximise with intelligence the huge coatline and resources and so much more of Austrlaias west,

Let not abuse the God given gifts we have a responsibility for and this includes ALL Australians and we have an incredibly ancient peoples who have learnt survival skills and still do use the land for the betterment.

We would be totally own by the Woodside Class worse than today. At least the competing interests of other states irons out their total dominance to a degree. Remember how our borders were closed to protect their interests by keeping their staff locked up here?

Good. We in New Zealand are plagued by WA-based mining companies trying to extract short-term wealth from our priceless national parks. Let WA secede. We can then ban the scumbag prospectors and rip-tear rapist-plunderers without having to deal with Canberra. I'm not against mining. Some of the moves we have to deal with here, though, with WA connections, are dismal.
