No surprise Melbourne is doctrinaire but now Australiawide ??! Covid mandates all over again. Oh you have a choice but you can't go anywhere if you don't.

Yeah I actually snorted when they said I had the right to refuse and I realised they actually meant “if you want to travel you have no right to refuse.”

Same as “Covid vaccines are voluntary but you have the right to not work, travel or enter buildings if you prefer not to have it.”

Is it obedience conditioning, for those resisting the "nudge"? Australia was famously founded by convicts, and Ned Kelly et al regarded as plucky freedom fighters. But remember, beside the convicts, there were MANY policemen. Defiance and obedience remain at odds to this day.

I’ve wondered about this too? Another medical intervention without informed consent?

On a similar theme, a friend complained recently about being engulfed in pesticide spray on a plane after landing from Haiwaii, apparently this is a WHO dictate? See: https://x.com/leilanidowding/status/1892838749819519035?s=46

So it seems in Australia people are groomed to submit to these assaults on their bodily autonomy…

Who is actually behind imposing these interferences?

I recently travelled domestic Cairns/Melbourne and was scanned at both airports. So, not just international!

Enjoy your serendipitous holiday Rebekah.

I’ve seen them at domestic airports too but I don’t think the federal international travel law applies there … so these may be enforced on a state by state basis?

Thanks Liz, I wondered about that.

Honestly my subscription to you Rebekah is such great value. Even on your holiday you are informing and protecting us .......thank you .

Scanners are needed to detect guns and grenades that are small enough to be secreted into bodily orifices. They keep us all SAFE. It is just a matter of giving up a little privacy and health for the good of the collective.

Yes satirical, guns and grenades don' t fit in the body unless it's a cadaver! Very funny evaD!!

Ever encountered the phrase; 'the living dead'?

Love it! I heard once that somebody was caught with a thingy up their nose - they kept him in an interogation room — untill they extracted a big gross boogah

🤣 .hmmm...."collective" has such a lovely "communal" ring to it yes?

Went through an international scanner last year when exiting a country. The guys seemed to darry about keeping me there - exposed for ? a good minute — i just stepped out, but they made me go back in. Of course I couldn't understand what they were saying, so I added, "Yes, they're real - they're all mine". 😆

This cuntry continues to produce much material for satirists to work with. It is a goldmine for comedians.

Perhaps the true cumulative side effects ARE known. Who'd be surprised if it's another depop by a thousand cuts?

Expand full comment

I had a shallow look and it seems some studies have found adverse cumulative effects and others haven’t, so seems to be still inconclusive…

Agree. I try to avoid where possible. Having been travellling OS since 1975..... with all the computer-smarties about, why can't I just be flagged on the system now as "P-BOF" (Pass-Boring Old Fart") Seriously, the vast majority of travellers are courteous, they SHOULD surely KNOW this far down the track, who should be flagged.

I hope you enjoy the downtime. I was there in the RAN in about 1973 & went back about 15 years later - lovely place.

Would have loved to have seen it back then. Our guide told us some of the islands still practiced cannibalism as recently as 1970!

Unfortunately, but (perhaps) not surprisingly, I don't remember too much because of excessive alcohol consumption! 😜😏

Bula to you too Rebekah. Hope you are both relaxing and enjoying the holiday. I love how your frustration with the system can be expressed in your writing so immediately. Works like that for me as well. Write on sister!👏🌄🎖
