It was my innermost woes seeking expression many months ago now being broadcast through the multitude of voices calling in today. It was really, really, really weird.
I send Build back better Bartlett regular non complimentary feedback linked with articles, the latest being a article by a West Perth doctor in the spectator a couple of days ago making these vaccines advocates look like blithering idiots, BBB Bartlett has spent the last 2 years accusing anyone of a differing opinion to the MSM narrative being a anti vaxxer and backwater red neck, I reckon he is as big a coward as the rest of them and I tell him, he has my number - but I never hear a peep out of him, I will be linking him to some of Rebekah’s articles, but he really is not that bright TBH.

Somehow I managed to get conscripted into the ranks of the time poor. Apparently, the 1940 film is supposed to be the better of the two versions.

The social media post with the comments was on Instagram on Saturday. The post is still there but the comments are all wiped and the comment function is disabled.
I spoke to my son. When there is no one there to moderate, e.g. at the moment there is only one person to moderate after 4.30, so they switch off comments on controversial posts when they finish their shift. With Facebook it says Moderator is no longer available, but the existing comments are there. With Instagram, when you switch it off, there is no ability to do that, the comments are still there but they don't appear. Then the next day the moderators are focused on next day's posts, because they don't have the resourcing to keep moderating too many posts.
A couple of things that come to mind in response to this information:
- Instagram has inbuilt moderation. Offensive comments are automatically hidden. Why does ABC need additional moderation?
- Would this post be "controversial" if ABC hadn't actively peddled misinformation that risked women's health up until this point?
- Having worked in marketing/social media management in a past life, I don't believe for one second that failing to restore comments on such a popular/controversial post was simply an oversight.
- ABC has a track record of turning off and deleting comments when the comments are overwhelmingly pissed off and calling out the government. I've been observing this for some time now.

When folk double down on their position, gaslight others who disagree with them, or defend an idea that’s indefensible it reveals a shadow (a wound, a fear etc) that requires attention, examination, the light of day to be shone onto it. The Covid moment has offered up so much possibility for people in this space (and possibility for this culture of make believe and its deranged values barely questioned). Irregardless of whether the invitation to examine our shadows, personal or societal, is taken up or not, the possibility is always there, always following us, hunting us. Avoidance has a limited shelf life, the shadow has something important we need to know. No matter how much concrete is poured onto our shadows the weeds will eventually brake it open and regrow a forest.
