I had the worst flu I've ever had in 2021 when WA apparently had no Covid. Either it was Covid and WA just hadn't figured out it was in the community, or it was just a really bad flu. I had the worst flu I've ever had in 2021 when WA apparently had no Covid. Either it was Covid and WA just hadn't figured out it was in the community, or it was just a really bad flu. Anyhow I was in bed with it for 2 1/2 weeks and sick for another 3 months or so after that with extreme fatigue and a cough I just couldn't kick. After 3 months I was fine again. So I can personally attest that some viruses can flatten you for a little while.
Not sure why I “liked” that! But same for me in March 2020 … had what I would call a debilitating “flu” with aches and headaches and fever etc … hadn’t had anything like that since ~2005 which was the last time I recall what was the worst “flu” I ever had which left me delirious and sweating on the couch for 48 hrs … the question we all have is “what the hell is covid, and is whatever we experienced since 2020 representative of a novel pathogen?” Personally I err on the side of covid is real, as WA was certainly open to international China travel for the months leading up to the so-called outbreak advice, and 2019 in WA was the worst “flu and pneumonia” season on recent record with a huge uptick from the average deaths of ~600. Either the flu was severe OR covid is real, but if you believe the ABS, we had no flu deaths in Australia for months on end.
That fact remains one of the biggest red flags for me. As someone who’s looked at data for the past 5 years, the canard that somehow covid “measures” here and elsewhere magically stopped the flu while allowing covid remains one of the greatest tells that those in charge were bullshitting through their proverbial arseholes.

Ah yes, the flu had a 2 year holiday...
