To say Dr Fidge is not an aggrieved person is straight up gaslighting.

Australia, you have truly fallen.

A quick google search of the judge finds this...

Justice Rofe was called to the Bar in 2001, taking silk in 2014. At the Bar, she specialised in science and technology related matters. She has significant experience in representing clients in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, mining, and manufacturing industries......

The swamp that needs to be drained

Calling it a swamp romanticises the System. Call it rather the Pustule that needs to be SQUEEZED.

Thanks Rebekah. It is looking increasingly clear that there are strong forces that do not want these kinds of questions to be discussed and evidence to be publicised, and will cling to any possible mechanism to prevent it from happening.

Is that really how the law is supposed to work?

Well, I think that is how the law works, whether it's supposed to or not.

The evidence is pointing that way — disconcertingly.

Stooges everywhere - do not presume the law is about justice. That concept is as archaic as notions of bodily autonomy and informed consent. Consent is a manufacture based on legal fictions, enforced by the state through its courts in service of mammon and the almighty (dollar that is). The minor cases that provided solace to the few who won their initial stoush with authority over the past couple of weeks, have now to be put into perspective; and the perspective has a microscope in front of it displaying that dystopic world of SynthBio. Be thankful that their constructs bear the inevitable mark of self-destruction; and that we can see it. So get out your dancing shoes!

Yes, I wrote this a year ago:

"Our legal system is not a justice system. It is just a system of rules that powerful people use to keep little people under the boot."

To get a little bit of a feel for how Justice Rofe perceives the workings of Australian society in general, it is worthwhile reading the transcript of her address to the assembled members of the Australian Federal Court on the 06 May 2022 when she was first appointed. The transcript can be found via the following link:

Once again, the road block on "standing."

I wonder if Dr Fitch's appeal would entail item 1 on the Dealings list - conduct an experiment with GMO's? Seems logical that this would be his standing...

If you get meta with it, Empires fall. They always have, they always will. Maybe dissenters will prevail. Maybe they won't. Either way I think there's a moral obligation to do everything you can and after that, ride the fall as best you can...

Excellent assessment. The reality check we need to keep in the forefront of our mind. Then we won’t be disappointed….yet still have the will to continue the fight.

I find the meta view quite calming. I'm naturally quite pragmatic though I suppose. What can I control? I'll do that. What can't I control? I'll let God / nature / fate handle that.

Do you have a spiritual life, or a sense of a higher power? I'm pretty Type A myself but I think enlarging my spiritual life is what has helped me in times like these.
