I loved your tweet. And it took about 3 seconds to realise it was 1 April. But it pushed the narrative in a positive direction…that was priceless. Just to contemplate the government taking such action was uplifting. Don’t let the satire police stop you. We are truly lost without humour!
In an inversion of an inversion, your April Fool's joke might actually wake a few more people up from their slumber. Humor undercuts propaganda and lies in curious ways and you achieved something powerful with your post.
Great article, Rebekah! I left Twitter/X a little while back so didn't see your post or the ensuing furore. Your point here about reading things carefully before sharing really resonated with me though, and I try to do this even when adding my 'like' to a post/article to endeavour to be precise in my internet dealings. Despite some people's confusion, it sounds like your post has stimulated more conversation, which is a great thing!
Slightly offtopic- australia's Digital I.D. legislation bill has been passed by the senate. It now goes before the house of reps who meet, I think, on 14 May. Please, please everyone, write/call/visit your local federal member as tell them to vote NO against this slave-making agenda.
How members of the senate just voted .....33 ayes, 26 noes
